Rotational molding, also called rotomolding, is a low-pressure process that was first developed over a century ago. Since then, the rotomolding process has developed into one of the most competitive, custom plastic molding processes available. Rotomolding is a thermoplastic process for producing hollow parts by placing powder or liquid resin into a hollow mold and then rotating that tool bi-axially in an oven until the resin melts and coats the inside of the mold cavity. This process allows for fast production of hollow forms with uniform thickness and stress-free corners.
Products that were made from assembling multiple pieces can now be molded as one part. It is more efficient, plus it allows for the production of stronger products. A pre-finished piece of plastic or metal can be added to the mold prior to processing, resulting in one solid, unified piece.
